What is a Direct Cremation?
At the time of need our Transfer Service will transfer your loved from the place of death and directly into our care at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Our Service Consultants will register the death and complete all necessary paperwork. The cremation will take place immediately following the death without a funeral service beforehand. Your loved one is usually cremated in a simple environmental cremation container. If you've chosen to be cremated or your loved one wants to be cremated, it is time to consider the next step in that plan. What are your wishes for a final resting place for the cremated remains?
1) Bury/Inter the Cremated Remains
This is still the most popular option for those who chose cremation but still wish to have a special place to visit.
2) Niche
With this interment option, cremated remains are placed in an urn, which is then placed in one of our beautiful columbariums or gazebo. These vertical, above-ground granite structures can be found in Mount Pleasant or Oakland Cemeteries. The face of a niche may be personalized with a bronze plaque.
3) Scattering Gardens
Scattering a loved one's cremated remains in one of our two scattering gardens amongst the beautiful trees and flowers.
4) Keeping the urn at home
You can purchase a beautiful urn from our selection in which to keep your loved one's cremated remains. This can also give you time to think about your final resting place options and decide which will best suited.
