 In consideration of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Mount Pleasant Cemetery (London) Inc. is taking steps to reduce risk to our staff, the families we serve, and our guests.

 We take the safety of our community and the families we serve very seriously and we have adapted our daily health and safety protocols to reflect this. We are taking extra precautions to limit exposure, our staff will be cleaning on an ongoing basis, and we will be following all government recommended guidelines (including social distancing). Please understand we are implementing these safety measures to ensure we can continue to serve you in your time of need.

 As of March 16th, 2020, we have begun to prioritize essential services and focus on at-need families who have experienced a death. Some functions will be offered in a modified capacity, while others are temporarily suspended.

 The following adjustments have been made based on the information provided through the governing bodies that look after Funeral Providers and Cemeteries as well as the local, provincial and national health agencies. They are as follows:

Immediate Assistance

 If a death has occurred, please call 519-434-6504 at any time, where we can direct you to the appropriate representative to best meet your needs.


Essential Services

Transfer Service – We continue to offer services for at-need families. Please contact us at any time, and a consultant can begin the process.

Cremations – Cremation will continue as usual, though only Funeral Providers may enter the crematorium/retort area while accompanied by the crematorium operator. 

Casket Burials – Cemetery staff will continue to offer casket burials. For further information, please contact a cemetery representative or contact your Funeral Provider who can submit a request. 


Modified Services

Graveside Services – Cemetery staff will approach the grave after the family has departed.
We are unable to offer tents for burials at this time.

At-Need Arrangements – We request only two family members make arrangements at this time. Arrangements can be made remotely according to your comfort level, or if you would like to proceed in person, we will ask that you pass our screening process.

Cremation Burials – We are now allowing Cremation Burials with some restrictions. We will be allowing bookings on Monday to Friday with the following time slots: 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. There are guidelines in place to ensure the safety of our staff and visitors. If you would like to confirm a date and make arrangements, please call in to the office or email our general mailbox where we will discuss how to proceed. For additional options you may wish to contact your Funeral Provider.

Cremation Witnessing – Cremation Witnessing can be arranged through your Funeral Provider. Only two family members may be present for the witnessing. Those present will be required to stand at the entrance and will not be permitted to enter the crematorium at this time. 


Temporarily Suspended Services

Pre-Arrangements – We will not be taking appointments for pre-arrangements at this time. Our staff are responding to inquiries via email, and if time permits, we may be able to assist you further in your arrangements.

Gatherings – All gatherings are suspended until further notice. This includes all gatherings in our chapel facilities, at the office, and throughout our cemetery grounds.

Flower Beds and Memorial Gardens – We will be unable to offer our seasonal flower beds and memory gardens. We anticipate annual memorial planting will return in the Summer of 2021. 


Screening Process

1.    Have you or someone you have had recent contact with been outside of the country in the past 14 days? (This includes travel to the United States)

2.    Have you or anyone in your immediate family encountered someone who has, or is suspected of having, COVID-19?

3.    Do you have, or have you experienced any of these symptoms in the past 14 days:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of Breath

 If you have answered yes to any of these questions, our consultants will ask you to make arrangements remotely.


Office Hours
 Our office doors will be locked, and admittance will be by appointment only. Staff will be responding to phone calls and emails during regular business hours:

Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Saturday and Sunday we will be closed

Due to the number of requests we are receiving we will be responding according to urgency. Please excuse the delay, all other requests will be addressed as promptly as possible.


Cemetery Grounds
 The cemetery grounds continue to be open to the public in accordance with our by-laws, “The cemetery grounds are open from dawn to dusk. Entry at other times is not permitted.” (section 4.2.01).

 We ask visitors to follow the appropriate steps to protect yourself and those around you by following the guidelines set out by the various levels of government throughout Canada, including following social distancing and limiting your group size to no more than ten people.
