Obituary of Wanda Angela Grendys
GRENDYS, Wanda Angela died peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2020, of natural causes, at the age of 86, after a relatively brief stay at Secord Trails Care Community, Ingersoll. Wanda was born in the Canadian prairies on March 7, 1934 in the Municipality of Minitonas, Manitoba.
Beloved daughter of Walter Grendys and Julia (nee Palka) and sister to her late siblings Mervin Grendys, “Brownie” Grendys, Christine Murphy (nee Grendys), Lydia Wilson (nee Grendys), she is survived by her elder sister Mary Anne Norley (nee Grendys), with whom she resided for much of her life.
Wanda spent some of her working life as a teacher and was an accomplished academic achiever, holding a Bachelors of Arts in Music from the University Of Western Ontario, Master of Education from the University Of Toronto, and her A.R.C.T. Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music at the University Of Toronto. She is fondly remembered for her advanced musical skills, love of music, art, film, and literature, and enthusiasm for gardening and the natural world.
A small, graveside ceremony was held in London, Ontario at Mount Pleasant Cemetery and Crematorium on Tuesday, June 29 for her immediate family in the context of the covid-19 pandemic.
