In a single word Irene was awesome. She didn't know that she was awesome because she was awesome by nature. She welcomed me into the Mallet family with open arms 40 years ago. Irene was so loving and kind, easy to be with because she was so positive and calm. She brought out the best in people because you could be yourself and feel relaxed with Irene. I loved that so much about her because she made people laugh at themselves. Laugh at a lot of things too, but mostly by not taking yourself too seriously.
She will be missed in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to have meet her and particularly for those who knew her well.
I loved you Irene and your memory warms my heart.

Irene always made sure she looked like a million dollars before leaving her room at a Elmwood. The beauty in her heart
outweighed all though. She absolutely loved all people. Irene acted with kindness at all times. She was a great participant in the song Out Behind the Barn and was the princess of Tennessee Waltz. Both Irene and her wonderful family will be missed at Elmwood. We are so fortunate to have known Irene.

I will miss you Irene, our singing, dances and wanting to feed me whenever you were eating something. “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy, when skies are grey, you never know dear, how much I love you, so please don’t take my sunshine away. ) This song will always remind me of you. And another one you taught me that I never knew. ( A tea for two, a two for tea .......,.) will miss you my friend and Rest In Peace.

Reflections on Nanny
Nanny taught me:
That it’s nice to look nice.
That romance is sweet. And that it’s fun to be in love.
That quietude is the next best thing to speaking kindly about others.
That it’s best to put worry out of the mind. There’s no use in letting it rattle around in there.
That laughter makes life light.
That there’s a subtle joy in sitting down last at the table. Because there is no joy if it isn’t shared.
That you might as well paint your bathroom pink. Because it’s hard to feel lousy about yourself in bright pink room.
That you keep dancing when the music is on. Because it doesn’t stay on forever.
That focusing on:
Health and Happiness.
Always.
Is the key to a long, beautiful life.
Love Always,
Dylan

Mom was a hard worker but she also knew how to put up her feet and relax. That always intrigued me, knowing when it was time to relax, and when it was time to sleep! She understood the rhythms of life!
She loved to play checkers. Even in the latter stages of her dementia it was hard to beat her! Believe me, I tried.
She LOVED to dance. She just couldn't understand why everyone wasn't "getting up" and dancing. Any kind of music meant dancing to her. She was fun!
She loved her coffee. She loved her ice cream. She loved her baked sweets. I remember bringing friends home after school on the days she baked..... bread, cinnamon buns and squares!
I have so many shared memories with her. The live performance we attended in Toronto (Miss Saigon), the LA cruise we took together, and shopping excursions too numerous to count which always included a cake and coffee stop.
She had such a positive disposition. Her kids and grandkids were "smart cookies" and "everything was going to turn out okay" was the way she looked at life.
She was "there for me" in so many ways. For both of my deliveries, she was right there in the delivery room! She stayed with me for 6 weeks after the twins were born! She would help cook and clean. She came up to visit us "up north" many times, sometimes by herself.
She was a wonderful mother, mother in law and grandmother.
She's gone from this life, but never forgotten.
Love you always, Mom

I remember meeting Irene & Ubald at a Mallet family gathering. It was memorable. Irene was very sweet & loving. Ubald was funny and his love for Irene was transparent. You could feel their loving bond, when being around them. A few yrs later, life brought me to Yellowknife, NWT, where I got to meet their cherished daughter, Sharon & her lovely family. Today my heart goes out to everyone touched by Irene's precious light - Joey, Jen, Sharon, Bruce, Dylan, Ryan, friends & family. Much love & healing in this transition.

I will always remember Mrs. Mallet as a strong woman. Always with a smile on her face. Very down to earth. Loved having get togethers with her family and others, making amazing meals with her husband for everyone. She always made sure to look good and she did! God Bless You and your family! Been about 40 years since I've seen her, but I have lots of good memories being around the Mallett house growing up. Lou's mom was like a second mother to all of us. She was a special lady. So sorry for your loss.
