William Coeck

Obituary of William Joseph Coeck

Peacefully, Thursday, January 7th, 2021, after an extraordinary 20-year battle with cancer, Will Coeck of London, formerly of Dashwood Ontario, passed away at the age of 74. Throughout the many phases of his life, Will seamlessly blended the children and grandchildren that called him Dad, Grandpa, Willy or Will. He could fill a room when he entered without saying a word but you knew he was there. He shared his strong opinions and charismatic personality with family, friends and acquaintances wherever he went, whether in the office at RE/MAX or on an island cruise no matter if you wanted to hear it or not. Will had the opportunity to travel later in life and shared many cruises and an amazing trip to his birthplace Belgium with loved ones. Sometimes his demeanor made it hard to tell but he enjoyed every minute of his travels. For those who knew Will, knew him to be hard working, honest, sometimes opinionated but a caring and loyal man. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years the late Betty Coeck (Steeper), and shared these past few years with Coreen Miller, his companion, travel co-hort and the person he made go in the water first when swimming with the sharks in Belize. Beloved father of Kevin & Kate Steeper of Goderich, Bradley & Bev Steeper of St. Thomas, Phia & Nick Mehalco of Michigan, Erika & Michael Liao of Calgary, Stephanie Coeck of Barrie, Leighton & Jessica Gingrich of Nova Scotia and Courtney & Leon Melville of London. He was adored by his 13 grandchildren Martha, Maggie, Megan, Nicholas, Matthew, Emily, Liam, Mario, Hunter, Kyrie, Frankie, William and Garrett and he was affectionately loved by his dog Jagger. Your final deal is closed, you can rest now Will. Please know that you will be missed by many. Please take the time to celebrate his passing in your own way, as no funeral service or internment will be taking place at his request. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a donation in memory of Will are asked to consider the London Health Sciences Center Cancer Clinic where he received amazing care or a charity of your choice.
