Laurie Ellison (Mero)

Obituary of Laurie Ellison (Mero)

I wanted to say, “It was with dignity and grace, but I didn’t want to toot my own horn. I can say without a doubt, it was with the love and support of my amazing family and those closest to me. After a 23 year journey with Multiple Sclerosis I made my transition on Thursday, March 17th, 2022. I didn’t lose the battle, it was never about fighting for me, it was about acceptance, growth, and ALWAYS, with as many great laughs as possible. My personal mission statement was “To remain mindful, open and receptive, and to walk through challenges with grace and gratitude” and I consciously tried to live that every day. Early in my journey, when I questioned why MS, my Guru said, “Laurie, sometimes the universe needs us to have experiences on behalf of others”. It brought me such peace to think my “experience” may have served a higher purpose. I felt like I hit the trifecta in this life. I was born into the Mero tribe with two of the kindest, most loving souls at the helm and an incredible supporting cast. Jim (Mariette), Dave, Mary Pat, Paul, Peg, Kemesha and Eileen as well as 11 nieces and nephews! I had a circle of like-minded friends who shared my beliefs and supported my passions. And, perhaps most importantly, the incredible tribe I was able to co-create. Ed, Ben (Payton, Mathias) and Karlie. Simply the best… Friends and family are welcome to a Celebration of Life being held at Purple Hill Country Hall, 20903 Purple Hill Road, Thorndale on Sunday, March 20th, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. (doors open at 1 p.m.) with an open house to follow until 4 p.m. No need to dress up, wear your favourite jeans and please bring your best stories of Laurie to share.
