John, Adam and all of Cindy's family. Cindy's Celebration of Life yesterday in the park was beautiful. It was a privilege to be present with so many other people who knew and loved Cindy and to hear the stories, all with humour (of course) from her school and work days, the Fitness Centre and kayaking, concerts, fabulous parties with neighbours and friends and so much more...a beautiful quilt of memories from Cindy's very full life. I am grateful to have known her and her wonderful spirit which is still here. Chris Fraser

We were saddened to hear of Cindy's passing and our thoughts and prayers go out to John, Adam and family. I (Rob) was fortunate to become a friend of Cindy while I was toiling in the UWO soils lab for my Masters. She made the often boring lab work fun with stories of the 60's and 70's, her appreciation of early Frank Zappa, and lively debates. Peter Gzowski's Morningside was a daily ritual. Cindy and John were so kind to invite me to their home for great meals, the best home brew, and listening to an eclectic range of music. They were great times. Cindy was a very special person and will never be forgotten.

We are indeed sad to hear that Cindy has passed away. We met Cindy at Rosemere High School and our friendship extended through and past school. We lost touch for a while but reconnected some years ago. Since then, we have enjoyed several reunion lunches with her and Linda, another friend from Rosemere High. It was at one of these lunches that we saw evidence of Cindy’s talent with embroidery when she presented each of us with a beautiful lace angel which we will always treasure. We will remember Cindy with love and smiles and are so glad that we had a chance to meet her for lunch in July of this year. Our sincere condolences to her family. On behalf of myself and my late husband Roger King I would like to express my sadness on hearing that Cindy has passed away. Roger was very fond of Cindy - her great sense of humour and cheerfulness was much appreciated during the years she was Roger's 'right hand man' in the Soils Lab. Over the years Cindy and John added much bonhomie to the frequent Departmental parties, often being the last to leave the festivities. Her kindness extended to looking after our first dog - Cheeky one summer and on the basis of that experience she went on to get a dog of her own. I believe that was before Adam was born. I will always remember Cindy with affection and send my heartfelt condolences to John and his family.

So sorry to hear of Cindy’s passing; Cindy was such a big part of my life for five years as an undergrad working in the soils lab and as a Master’s student. We had such great conversations and I loved her out-of-the-box thinking on so many topics. And so many laughs! It’s so refreshing to spend time around someone who shares your sense of humour. It made it a pleasure to come to work/school knowing that you wouldn’t leave for the day without a few laughs. Her recent diagnosis was unfortunate but she left us all with so many memories. As I write this, I am sad but also smiling as I recall one of the happiest periods of my life. I am so sorry I can’t attend the ceremony on Saturday as unfortunately I have to be in Toronto at that time but Cindy will be in my thoughts at that time and for many years to come.

I met Cindy in the Department of Geography as a professor and she was our lab technician. I always remember her friendly smile and our conversions in the hallways. She was very nice and helpful. My deepest condolences to her family.

There wasn't a professor or student whom Cindy didn't assist in one way or another in her role as lab technician in the geography department at Western. I never saw her in anything other than a good mood: quick to assist, quicker still to share a laugh. The department lost a tremendous asset when Cindy retired, and we've all lost a lovely person by her untimely and premature passing. My sincerest condolences to her family and friends. Jeff Hopkins
