Obituary of James Barnard Jones

A.K.A. Jim, Jimmy, Jimbo, Jimmy-Wad. Born April 11, 1943 - in London Ontario, passed away on Friday, March 3 at LHSC Victoria Hospital. Celebration of Life will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Chapel & Reception Centre, 303 Riverside Drive, London, on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Words of Remembrance will commence at 2:00 p.m. Jim was born in London, Ontario to Hilda Jones. He went to high school at H. B. Beal Technical School where in his senior year, Jim was awarded the Latham Scholarship providing Fine Art study at the Spanish/American School of Art in San Miguel de Allende. He worked as a graphic designer at several prominent advertising agencies achieving the Art Director position. Later, Jim worked as a freelance artist from his own office and then his home. He enjoyed fishing and boating in Ontario’s northland, specifically on Lake Temagami. Jim was an avid student of history, his favourite magazine being National Geographic. He was a “news junkie” as well, reading in depth the Globe & Mail and following BNN. Jim had an outstanding sense of humour and a quick wit, assigning a nickname to many people he was close to. He relished being a Grandfather of four wonderful grandchildren, mostly because he was a kid at heart. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Jones of London, Ontario; daughters Vicky St. Germain of Sudbury and Andrea Kerr of Belleville; grandchildren: Rachel, Elizabeth, Isaac, and Elise; dear cousins, their children and grandchildren. Those wishing to contribute may send pictures or a note (70 words) to Andrea, at andicandikerr@gmail.com) to be included in a rotating slide show at the Celebration. We know many of you have humorous stories of Jim’s adventures. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Oncology staff of the LHSC Victoria Hospital. We will be reminiscing “Jim” stories, lovingly, forever.
