Obituary of Brian Tierney
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Tierney. Brian was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather to his sons and grandchildren who were always “good as gold” in his eyes.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Karen, sons Tyler (Jo) and Adam (Natasha) and two exuberant grandchildren Maxwell and Clara. He leaves behind his sister Barbara (Mike deceased). He is deceased by parents Dorothy and Gerald Tierney from Timmins, Ontario, and brother Doug (Pirjo) from South Porcupine, Ontario.
Brian retired from the Government of Canada in 2006 and enjoyed his gardens and was an avid reader and enjoyed theatre outings and time with family. Brian enjoyed daily walks with the family dog Finley and conversations with neighbours and he always had a story to share. Brian was a kind and thoughtful person always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a wonderful sense of humour and truly enjoyed the company of others.
Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful healthcare staff at University Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospice for caring for Brian and supporting the family during this difficult time.
A visitation will be held at the Tierney home on Saturday, June 10 from 1- 5 PM. Bring your colourful memories of Brian as we celebrate his life and friendships. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Brian’s honour to the St. Joseph’s Hospice.
