Obituary of Barbara Margaret Shaw

(nee Johnston) June 12 1926 - June 15 2023 Barbara passed away peacefully on June 15, 2023, just days after her 97th birthday, at University Hospital in London Ontario. Barbara leaves behind her daughter Brenda and her son-in-law Roger, as well as her grandson Jamie Mathe (Laurie) and granddaughter Melissa Mullan (Patrick). She loved her five great-grandchildren: Cassandra, Brendan, and Marshall Mathe, Aidan and Owain Mullan. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Clare (1972), her mother Helen, and her siblings Russell Johnston, Helen Jaffray, and Murray Johnston. Barbara was born in Detroit, Michigan; and lived in Hamilton until moving to London, Ontario, in 1953. She worked for 38 years at Sparton of Canada. She lead an active life enjoying, in her earlier years, skiing, roller skating and riding her bike. She was a founding member of her church, loved genealogy and was a member of Quota International. A Celebration of Barbara’s life will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Chapel and Reception Centre, 303 Riverside Drive London, Ontario on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. with Words of Remembrance commencing at 2:00 p.m. There will be a private family interment following the reception.
