Obituary of Jean Chadwick

The family of Jean Chadwick are saddened to announce her peaceful passing on September 30, 2023, surrounded by her family, at University Hospital, London, Ontario at the age of 90. Born in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, Jean and her four children emigrated to London Ontario in 1963 to join her husband Frank who had landed a career as a Police officer with the London City Police Force. After his untimely death in 1967, Jean worked tirelessly at a variety of jobs to support the family, eventually retiring in 1989 from a management position at the Bendix Brake Systems Company. While raising her children alone Jean encouraged and supported them in the arts, music and sports, enjoying such activities as skiing at Skee-Hi and Banff as well as camping and sailing at Fanshawe Lake and Georgian Bay with family and a close circle of friends. Jean also had many loyal friends through the Catholic Women's League and showcased her talent for knitting complex designs at many of the church bazaars. She was an avid reader, an enchanting historian, a talented artist and a wise, supportive Mother, Nana and friend. She will be profoundly missed by her children; Glenn (Birgit Siber), Steven (Karyn Booth-Chadwick), Sarah Reis (Roger), and Deborah (David Butcher), her grandchildren; Quinton (Courtney), Kellen (Stephanie), Wendell, Lauren, Sophia McArdle (Brian) and Emerson. Jean was blessed with eight great-grandchildren; Noah, Landon, Blake, Elle, Wesley, Maeve, Rally and Oisin. A celebration of Jean's wonderful life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Chapel, 303 Riverside Drive, London Ontario. Words of Remembrance will commence at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jean’s name to the London Health Sciences Foundation - Palliative Care Fund: www.lhsf.ca and/or the Salvation Army London Village - Adult Day Program: www.salvationarmyvillage.ca
