Raymond Abernethy

Obituary of Raymond Abernethy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Garth Abernethy after a valiant battle. Beloved son of Joan and Earle "Garth", Ray was raised in Wainwright, Alberta, and remained a proud Albertan throughout his life. After many adventures, Ray settled in London, Ontario, where he cherished raising his children, Devon (Mallory) and Dayna. He loved music (especially Nightwish), hockey (Go Flyers!), a good meal (preferably salt-coated), and the Village Green Church community, where he served as a Landscaper and Custodian for many years before retiring. Ray dove into this fight with his classic brand of stubbornness and tenacity, qualities that were only outdone by his fierce loyalty and passion for being an incredible Dad and Grandpa. He is predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Wayne and Wendy. Ray leaves behind his cherished children, adoring grandchildren Lillie, Eliana, and Theodore, and his beloved siblings Glen (Jan), Debbie (Pat), Heather (Tim), and Mark, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. A celebration of Ray's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Ray's name to The Humane Society London & Middlesex would be appreciated.
