Obituary of Marnie Sideris

SIDERIS, Marnie - (nee Margaret Ellen Hutt) left us quite suddenly on February 22, 2019 to reunite with her husband Terry McConnell (Sept 2018). Marnie displayed such loving devotion to Terry's care during his lengthy battle with cancer.  She, and Chance, her faithful canine companion, seemed so lost without Terry after he passed away.

Marnie will be dearly missed by her good friend, David, and fellow employees at the London Convention Centre, and by Judy, Deb, Marion and Jill and fellow members of the Bosom Buddies at the Central Y.  Judy remembers first getting to know Marnie when she offered her lifts home from the Y, often stopping to linger for a visit over coffee on the way home.

Marnie had a bright beautiful smile, sparkling blue eyes and a great sense of humour. She was a gentle, kind and sensitive soul who cherished her good friends. Marnie was always concerned for everyone's welfare; often calling to check in with people or bringing them small tokens of her appreciation of them.

When Marnie worked at the LCC, she was one of the first associates that people met and she welcomed everyone with her open smile.  To her delight, she met Desmond Tutu there; and shaking his hand was always a treasured memory.  David fondly remembers her participating in the LCC Corporate Challenge and seeing her joyfully sliding down the water slide.  Judy and Jill have fond recollections of their visits over coffee or lunch with Marnie.  Many of the Bosom Buddies chuckle when recalling Marnie humourously auctioning off small wrapped trinkets in our Toonie Auction as we raised funds for Wellspring.

Marnie loved nature, particularly the birds and squirrels who gathered on her balcony feeders. She knew every dog in her building by name and their owners all knew Marnie. So please think of Marnie when you feed the birds or reach out to pet the dogs. You may even want to consider making a donation to the London Human Society, www.hslm.ca or Salthaven, www.salthaven.org in her memory.
