Darlene Broderick

Obituary of Darlene Jean Broderick

With a heavy heart, the family of Darlene Jean Broderick announces her passing at St. Joseph’s Hospice on January 23, 2020, after a short battle with cancer, at the age of 70. She is the loving and devoted mother of Jennifer (Justin). She will be dearly missed by granddaughters Brooklyn and Megan, brother Dennis (Lone), nephew Brad and her nieces Kari and Shannon. Darlene was predeceased by her parents Milton and Jean, and eldest brother Larry. Darlene was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Gramma (What happens at Gramma’s, stays at Gramma’s!). She had a kind heart and a wonderful sense of humour, making it easy to find friends everywhere she went. She owned an antique doll shop in Old South for many years and through this business formed many lasting friendships. Darlene also joined the Red Hat Society where she enjoyed her shopping trips and travels with her dearest friends. She loved her regular Sunday service at Forest City Community Church. At Darlene’s request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place in late spring. Details to follow. In Memory of Darlene, please consider donating to St. Joseph’s Hospice (485 Windermere Road, P.O. Box 1449, Station B, London ON N6A 5M2), or the Milton and Jean Broderick Charitable Fund c/o London Community Foundation (Covent Garden Market, 130 King Street, London ON N6A 1C5). This fund was set up by Darlene’s father and she was very proud to carry on his legacy by donating to various charities throughout London. The family wishes to thank Dr. Natalie Hertzman and all the amazing, caring staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice for making her stay comfortable and peaceful. Mom, your gentle heart, kind words and contagious laughter will be missed by all those you have touched. Mount Pleasant Cemetery (London) Inc. www.mpcemetery.ca
