Carolyne will be very much missed by her New Brunswick "Gorlick" family. She had many fond memories visiting at "The Camp" with Dad and Mom, Lawrence and Ruth Gorlick. God Bless from all of us

I met Carolyne through Alan and liked her immediately. Carolyne taught the second course I took at King’s - Alan taught the first. Carolyne was a genuinely kind person and I grew to love her and Alan. They were my friends, colleagues, and mentors. Carolyne hired me to work on one of her research projects and she was a great boss and we remained close over the years at King’s. On her last day teaching she came to my desk to let me know this would be the last class she would teach and unlike most professors I believe she was really happy to finish that part of her life. We will miss you. Phyllis Fidler

When I first arrived at King's, Alan’s office was just down the hall from mine, so Alan and Carolyne were two of my earliest acquaintances at the College outside of my department. I had not been long as a new King's professor when Faculty Association thought it would be a good idea to put some younger members on the salary committee. This was not a job that I relished, but Carolyne was serving as chairperson of the committee, and under her care, the task was rendered enjoyable. We met regularly prior to meeting with the Board and Carolyne prepared us for a series of negotiations that went rather smoothly in the end. Her kindness and gentle manner left a lasting impression with me. As the years rolled by, I was always delighted to run into Carolyne in the halls and chat with her about nothing in particular and therefore everything that truly mattered.

This picture says it all. Carolyne was one of the kindest and most joyous human beings I have ever met. She was my mentor and my friend for 30 years. One day, she told me I that I needed to do a PhD so we could work together until we retired. I took her advice and we were colleagues and friends in the School of Social Work at Kings University College for seven years. After retirement, we had marathon lunches with lots of laughter at our favorite places, the London Airport restaurant and Eddingtons of Exeter. I miss her but I know she is at peace with her mother and father, and she will be with us in spirit at her Celebration of Life. Rest in the arms of the angels, Carolyne, you are remembered with much love.

I first met Carolyne vicariously through Alan and my mom. By the time we finally met in person, I felt like we were already quite familiar, but the feeling I had when I first met Carolyne is not something that others can fully impart in their stories. Carolyne will always be remembered by me as the epitome of independence and purpose matched with warmth and compassion. In her presence, I always felt calm, reassured, and important. I will forever cherish our conversations about navigating through life in academia and parenting.

I will always remember Carolyne for her effortless graciousness, her grace, her sense of humour, and her incisive wit. She was a role model to me, and to many other women faculty. I wish I had told her that when I had the chance. But she certainly lives on in our many memories of her.

Carolyne was my special cousin who also became my dear friend and confidante. We connected much later in life by sheer happenstance but that connection became a strong family bond which grew solid over the years. I always felt at ease with Carolyne and although we never spent much time face to face, we could always easily pick up where we had left off. Her joie de vivre was truly infectious and she embraced my entire family with love and respect. I feel the same way about hers and hope that our bond will continue through time.
Much love and heartfelt condolences to her loved ones....May her memory be eternal!

This year is actually the "official" 25th year of the Totams ( the off to a meeting society), launched at a local pub and carolyne's much loved book club. Even before that significant occasion, a small group of London women gathered frequently for various adventures: coffee times, book discussions, christmas in her lovingly decorated backyard, road trips to garden shoppes, birthday celebrations, and several "professional" meetings around newsworthy topics and submissions. We even wrote a book about the Totams! All of us..jan, ailene, shanthi, donna and nancy.. will deeply miss her insights, her laugh, her sparkle and her intelligence. The Totams are without a piece of our foundation. Carolyne is much loved and much missed ...jan lubell

Carolyne and I were both born on March 7. Not the same year, but we decided we were twins and it was a real bond. She lived in London Ontario and I in London UK so we didn't meet often enough, but I really cherished the great times we spent together. We shared a lot of opinions and relished 'putting the world to rights' - or at least letting it know we thought of it.
Carolyne was a very special person and I am so glad to have had her as a friend. I miss her.
