As a very special memory of Sandra that I will always remember her for was the time my brother Ken and I were at the hospital because of our mother being in ICU on life support. It was a difficult time with a meeting we were called to attend. I will always remember Sandra being present and how very supportive and helpful she was.
Of course I will remember Sandra too for her love of books which I too share.
I also loved the sound of her laughter too!
I am thankful that Sandra was spared a lengthy time of suffering and that she is now free of pain.

Sandra was young at heart with a twinkle in her eye. It was a pleasure to know her. The world has lost a good one.

Sandy and I were first cousins. As children I spent every weekend up at grandmas playing with Sandy. Grandma did our hair the same and dressed us the same. It was such fun and I looked forward to each weekend. As the years went on we remained friends ,visiting each other often. I shall miss you like crazy my dear cousin but I know you are at peace and probably reading the latest book

Sandra was a warm, kind friend, intelligent and socially-conscious. She showed compassion and support to the vulnerable. I was blessed to be a neighbour for several years and will always cherish the visits and shared experiences we had. Since my leaving London, Sandra and I continued to communicate. I will miss all the insights into the many books she was reading. A bright light has gone out of the world.

Over the years my Sandra collected many books. Some of these are children’s books as she is seen reading in a photograph elsewhere on this site. Others were set aside for an 8 year old Ukrainian refugee child and her mother that a friend has sponsored to come to Canada. Sandra also has a number of grandchildren. The youngest of whom she knew. Ysolde is in the picture attached here and in another photo on this site, enjoying an indoor wiener and marshmallow roast. Sandra used brief opportunities to help the child catch up on an important life skill. Reading. Ysolde is now 11, and sadly it has been a long time since her grandmother has been able to help her improve this skill. The reason is largely because our Ontario family law system fails to enforce its own court orders when these are violated. This injustice angered Sandra for it meant to her that children like Ysolde remain unprotected, unable to flourish with unfit parenting. Sadly, because of this serious social issue, when she died, my wife still had books set aside to help the younger Ysolde to read better

I will always think of her as a friendly , welcoming face on my visits to the home she shared with Ken, and be aware of the level of love and support she provided him. Be well Ken.

As a fellow librarian, I was impressed by Sandra’s commitment to books and dedication to learning. She always took extra time to connect with students and with teaching staff. As a teacher librarian, Sandra was outstanding.
Sandra was not afraid to delve deeply into social issues and relational topics. I appreciated her honesty, her thoughtfulness and her wisdom. She is likely the most well-read person and student of Canadian literature that I will ever meet. I will miss our conversations and friendship.

Sandra was my cousin as well as my friend. I'm sitting here thinking of all the memories we shared together, tobogganing, ice skating, Sundays at her grandmother's, summer holidays in Toronto at my grandmother's, studying together for high school exams ( she passed l didn't). Camping, Port Dover and many more.
Sandra & l celebrated her 80th birthday at my place with cheesecake & sunflowers laughing at how old we were.
8 years ago Sandy got me back into reading, we had our 2 person reading club discussing the book every Friday.
Thank you Sandy for being my friend, l miss you.
See you at the Bistro

My sister Sandy was a constant and valued presence in my life, despite the 13-year gap in our ages – and even after I moved to the US in 1979. On visits home to Ontario, I often tried to visit with her, and when I moved back in 2017, I rented a home just a couple of blocks from where she lived. From time to time I would amble down the street with the dog for a visit (although the pandemic restricted some of that activity).
The photo posted here is dated April 64 – and it was taken outside the house on Buller Street in Woodstock where I grew up. It looks like it may have been taken at Easter. I would have been 9, and my sister Mary was 4. Sandy, I think, had started her teaching career … and had bought an old (and, if I recall, a rather unreliable) “Simca” car.
I hope the transportation in heaven is more reliable, Sandy. I will miss you greatly …. And If there is any way you can continue to communicate your thoughtful reading recommendations, that would be appreciated. Safe travels ….

Loved working with Sandy, she was incredibly kind and passionate about History and helping kids. You’re in my thoughts Ken, I’ll never forget your guidance in those first difficult years as a rookie teacher. I’m wishing you the strength and power of great memories.
